GigaNet is organizing the 2nd edition of the international academic workshop on "Global Internet Governance: An Interdisciplinary Research Field in Construction". The workshop will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 11 May 2009. It is organized in cooperation with three thematic sections (IIC, CD and CLP) of the European Communication Research and Education Association. For more details, see the preliminary announcement and call for contributions on the workshop website (deadline: 20 March 2009).


This report summarizes activities and accomplishments of all Giganet 2008 Committees/Offices.


A new book titled "Negotiation and the Global Information Economy" has been published. Author is GigaNet member J. P. Singh.


A new book titled "Powerscape of Internet Governance. How was Global Multistakeholderism Invented in ICANN?" has been published. Author is GigaNet member Slavka Antonova.


The full papers of the 3rd Annual GigaNet Symposium held in Hyderabad (India) on 2 December 2008, as well as the photos of the presenters, are now available online.


A new book titled "Governing Global Electronic Networks: International Perspectives on Policy and Power" has been published. Editor is GigaNet member William J. Drake, together with Ernest J. Wilson III. The book also features chapters by GigaNet members Don MacLean, Peng Hwa Ang, David Souter, Milton L. Mueller and Wolfgang Kleinwächter.


The 3rd Annual GigaNet Symposium will be held in Hyderabad (India) on 2 December 2008, the day prior to the UN Internet Governance Forum and in the same premises. The Symposium Agenda and Registration Form are now available online. Attendance at the Symposium is free and open to all interested parties, but registration is required.


A new book titled "Internet Governance: The New Frontier of Global Institutions" has been published. Author is GigaNet member John Mathiason.


GigaNet International Workshop on "Global Internet Governance: An Interdisciplinary Research Field in Construction" will be held in Paris, 23 June 2008, 08:30-13:30. Program, registration form, and other information now available online. Attendance at the workshop is free and open to all interested parties, but registration is required. French co-organizers and sponsors are: GDR-CNRS TICS, DEL-CNRS network, Sciences Po, U. Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, U. Pierre et Marie Curie and LIP6 Laboratory.


A new book titled "Multi-Stakeholder Governance and the Internet Governance Forum" has been published. Author is GigaNet member Jeremy Malcolm.
